My name is Vanessa, and I am a writer from Dublin.
I began my writing career as a screenwriter, completing an MA in Screenwriting from IADT in 2022. I wrote and directed three short films, “The Masterplan,” “Capable”, which enjoyed screenings at several festivals, and “Inside”, which is currently in post-production.
I worked with the Irish Comedy Skit Channel, “Newscheck”, and sold several scripts to them.
Outside of writing, I am an actor and work as an acting coach. My work with children inspired me to start writing Children’s fiction. I have had two short stories published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, and in 2024, I published my first children’s book titled “The Magic of Mná” with Austin Macauley Publishers.
I spent two years living in Vancouver, where I wrote and performed in various theatre productions.
Back in Dublin now, I have decided to shift my focus to literary fiction. I started a Substack page and am publishing a weekly fictional journal-entry series called “Nodus Tollens”, as well as fictional short stories, also published weekly. This is to connect to readers and build an audience as I work on my debut novel.
