Shay Lavender is a non-profit leader, education activist, advocate for communities of color and author. Her writing is intended to spotlight the talented, complex, and intersectional Black people that she has encountered. Shay holds a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and an M.S.Ed in Higher education from the University of Pennsylvania. Shay was born and raised in Detroit, MI and currently resides in Houston, TX. Shay’s short story, How to Grief, is pending publication at Minerva Rising.
