MeMe Kelly is a playwright, screenwriter, filmmaker, and performance coach with over thirty years of industry experience. She is a UCLA B.A. alumna and Distinguished Dean's Fellow MFA from UC Riverside, a Nicholl Semi-Finalist, and recipient of the Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award.
Her novels On Edge and Wings to Fly have sold thousands of copies and established her as a storyteller with a dedicated and growing readership. Her short film One Night in LA has screened at the Essence, Pan African, and Micheaux Film Festivals and is currently streaming on Tubi. Her legal drama Out of Bounds is in active use by the NAACP to advocate for student athletes. Her theatrical production Don't Quit: To Thine Own Self Be True had its world premiere at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California, on June 14, 2026 — Flag Day, America's 250th birthday — to a standing audience gathered to honor the life of Dr. Georgia Mae Kelly.
Kelly is the founder of the Georgia Mae Project, a California nonprofit, and Perfect Production Assistants, a workforce development program placing young adults with neurodivergent backgrounds in their first professional film credits. A Delta Sigma Theta Soror of 46 years and a community builder by calling, she has spent three decades creating stories that excavate — not adapt — the truth of Black life, Black ambition, and Black love across generations.
Don't Quit is her third novel.
