I was born in Puerto Rico and writes primarily fiction that evokes a sense of recognition, to honor the heritage and spirituality of Caribbean ancestors. As a Puerto Rican, I have written stories that deal with the essence of being between worlds, in a state that is not really defined by nationality, language or race, but rather by identity, cultural hybridity, kinship and ancestry. My creative and academic works have appeared in Vernacular: New Connections in Language, Literature, & Culture, Latino Book Review, Wicazo Sa Review, Contemporary Literary Review India, The Puerto Rico Review, La Torre (UPR), The Caribbean Writer (TCW) and others.
