Tiara Janté is a Locus Award-winning, Hugo-nominated writer whose speculative fiction and non-fiction center Black spiritual traditions, ancestral memory, and liberated futures.
She writes stories that challenge systems, hold space for healing, and honor the sacred in everyday life.
She coined 'Hoodoofuturism', a genre that blends ancestral practices with speculative storytelling, offering narratives shaped by transformation, resistance, and connection. Her work weaves truth and imagination, often exploring the intersection of ritual, identity, and power.
Tiara is the Founder of CNTRD Tech and The CNTRD Movement, a digital ecosystem committed to dismantling algorithmic bias and reclaiming space for Black and marginalized communities. Her academic research focuses on decolonizing digital spaces and exploring how Afrofuturism critiques the broken promises of technological progress while offering visionary alternatives.
With over a decade of experience in strategic communications, Tiara helps mission-driven brands shape narratives rooted in equity, cultural integrity, and collective impact.
She holds a B.A. in English from Muhlenberg College and is a M.A. in Professional and Digital Media Writing candidate at East Stroudsburg University.
Based in the Atlanta metro area, Tiara is a mother, a life partner, a cultural strategist, and a student of spirit. Her children keep her grounded in legacy and her writing is a living offering—to her people, to her lineage, and to those creating new worlds from the ones we were never meant to survive.
She believes the future isn’t something to wait for. It’s something we’re building now, word by word.
