Michelle Excell is an accomplished Project Director and Social Worker with expertise in developing system wide initiatives to provide quality care management particularly in intergenerational & intersectional BIPOC communities. During her 27 year career in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and advocacy work, she has had the opportunity to serve families & communities across the life spectrum whether it be through organizing groundbreaking community events, chairing the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, or serving as a liaison for underserved populations through her work as a DV and career counselor. Her passion for justice and equity has afforded her the opportunity to provide individual clients and community members with resources, educational support, emergency goods, training, and workshops that assist with positive quality of life outcomes. A graduate of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Pitzer College she is well versed in cutting edge evidence based practices in the fields of both education and sociology respectively. Outside of her career accomplishments she is a proud Mama of two and Nana of three. Michelle spends her time with loved ones and uses baking as self care through her dessert business, Shellies Sweets & Vegan Treats. Her upcoming book I Bake So I Don’t Break: Narratives & Recipes that speak to the Soul is a flouring of personal narratives combined with tried and true recipes that are sure to warm your heart and fill your belly.
