Ashley J. Hobbs is an award-winning podcast producer and accomplished writer whose work explores the intersections of spirit, identity, and legacy within Black life. She is the author of several published short stories, including Zephyrine (Obsidian Literary Journal) and In the Middle of Air (midnight & indigo), both steeped in historical fiction and magical realism. Her storytelling is deeply rooted in themes of generational memory, divine mystery, and the sacred complexity of Black womanhood.
With a background in audio storytelling that includes producing for major platforms like Spotify, ESSENCE, and Interval Presents, she brings a sharp ear for voice and atmosphere to her fiction. Her romantic short stories, I Can Feel You and the forthcoming How To (Let Yourself) Be Loved Mo’ Better, explore intimacy and vulnerability with tenderness and grit.
Currently, she is at work on a collection of magical realism stories and a historical fiction novel that traverses the spiritworld, sisterhood, the Black church, and sexuality. Through all her work—whether in sound or on the page—she is devoted to telling stories that reverberate with emotional truth, spiritual depth, and unapologetic Blackness.
