Deborah K. Sterling was always a big dreamer but lacked the confidence to pursue her true desires. She attended Virginia Union University where she majored in Journalism. However, her dream since eighth grade was to attend The Mecca, Howard University. After one and a half years at Virginia Union, she transferred to Howard where she majored in Radio/TV/Film. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the prestigious school and pursued a career in radio for a short time. Six years after obtaining her bachelor’s degree she decided to attend graduate school at Columbia College Chicago with a major in Arts, Entertainment & Media Management where she obtained a Master of Arts degree. She has always been a writer but was focused on the entertainment industry even starting her own concert promotions company, BTRUE2U Entertainment for the Soul. Sidetracked by religion she gave up her dream of becoming a concert promoter. Since childhood she dreamed of writing a book, but never felt she had a story until after being diagnosed with bipolar I disorder in October 2007. In 2021 she started the blog IAMNOTMAD to share the bright side of living with bipolar I disorder.
